Clayton Glass acquires Motherwell and Canterbury IGU manufacturing sites
Glassolutions has today confirmed the sale of the Canterbury and Motherwell IGU manufacturing sites to Clayton Glass Limited.
Clayton Glass is one of the country’s leading manufacturers of insulated glass units. Alongside their existing manufacturing sites, the Canterbury and Motherwell operations are a logical fit in terms of the growth strategy of the Clayton Group.
Employees of the Canterbury and Motherwell sites will transfer to Clayton Glass and will continue to operate as normal, so please continue to place your orders in the normal way. Both sites will continue to use Planitherm products supplied by Saint-Gobain Glass.
This sale does not affect any of our Glassolutions Distribution sites or our Glassolutions toughening and processing site based at Dudley.
It is consistent with the global Saint-Gobain Group strategy to withdraw from IGU manufacturing and focus resources on our core activities of high-performance flat glass manufacturing, glass distribution, toughening and processing.
Glassolutions will continue to focus on the growth of our nationwide glass distribution, processing and toughening activities. We will continue with our ambitious investment programmes to develop our service and offer, a recent example being the £1.5 million investment in a new large-scale toughening plant at our Dudley processing site.
We would like to thank all our colleagues and customers of the Canterbury and Motherwell sites; we are confident that both will have a successful future as part of the Clayton Group.
