Saint-Gobain becomes the highest EPD provider on the glass market

Saint-Gobain Building Glass Europe has just issued for Glasstec 18 verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), covering its whole product range and more than 165 different glazing configurations. This is the highest number of EPDs proposed by a glassmaker and processor on the market.

These declarations describe in detail the glazing’s environmental footprint, from raw material extraction to exiting the plant. Such information is vital to assessing the ecological impact at construction level and adapting as far as possible a building’s design to minimize its global footprint. Today, this is one of the key requirements for green building labelling schemes like LEED v4, BREEAM, HQE, DGNB, particularly if the EPDs have been third-party verified, ensuring data quality and reliability.

Faithful to its ambition to be a leader and key partner for sustainable construction, Saint-Gobain has worked on offering an extensive portfolio of EPDs to its customers. Today with 18 verified EPDs, the highest number in the market, Saint-Gobain covers more than 165 glazing configurations. And even more: for any customer configuration request, Saint-Gobain’s team can provide the appropriately verified EPD.

Our mission is to provide high performing glass solutions, helping to create great living places and improve daily life while preserving the future of all. Assessing and improving our product environmental footprint is fully part of it”, says Jean-Marie Vaissaire, CEO of Saint-Gobain Building Glass Europe.

These EPDs are available on demand from the sales rep teams of Saint-Gobain Building Glass Europe. Naturally, they can also be found on the international EPD system’s website, www.environdec.com.

Saint-Gobain here demonstrates clear leadership in the areas of sustainable construction and product transparency. This is one of the key pillars of “Glass Forever”, the corporate sustainability program.
