A technical expert you can depend on

In Profile: Ian Snow, Area Sales Manager

With so many glass types and configurations available, choosing the best and most competitive solution for a project is not always easy. Getting it wrong, of course, often means losing out in tendering.

So it’s vital that you have access to the most up to date technical know-how at the earliest stage.

That’s why GLASSOLUTIONS customers value the wealth of technical expertise we have within our sales team and, with 31 years in the glass industry, there’s no-one more experienced than Area Sales Manager Ian Snow. Marathon runner, climber, walker and dedicated supporter of high-flying Leicester City, Ian has a career which spans virtually every key area of GLASSOLUTIONS.

With his knowledge of products – how they are manufactured, processed, supplied and installed – Ian is ideally positioned to advise on what the best specification is for a given project. According to Ian this gives many customers a powerful competitive advantage in tendering.

“By consulting us at the earliest stage we can share our insights into how the specification can be improved. Take an acoustic glazing spec for example. Your specification may say that a specialist sound insulating glass is required when actually an asymmetric sealed unit would do the same job. This alternative would save money, be lighter - thus possibly eliminating the need for an expensive crane on site, and be available within a shorter lead time.”

Ian continues, “Up to 1,000 commercial DGU projects cross our path every year so the sheer scope of glazing applications that we are asked to quote for demands a high degree of technical knowledge. I’ve personally been involved in glazing projects as diverse as schemes at Essex County Cricket Club, the British Museum, newbuild schools in Buckinghamshire and the huge Battersea Place development in London. This diversity and variety is so important in helping to inform future specifications and give customers the benefit of our broader experience of what works best.”
